Based in Uganda, Smitha Sharma is the Africa Mobile for Development Fellow, supporting Grameen Foundation's mHealth, mAgriculture, and mobile financial services programs in the region,
Smitha joins us from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where she was an embedded consultant working on the Family Planning and Agricultural Development strategies. Prior to that she was at the Boston Consulting Group in New York City where she focused on providing strategic advice to clients across a variety of sectors including healthcare, insurance, and retail. Her social enterprise experience includes interning at Grama Vidiyal Ltd., a microfinance institution based in Trichy, India.
During her Grameen Foundation Fellowship, Smitha will be based in Kampala, Uganda and will support the development and implementation of strategies to increase the impact, scale, and sustainability of our product offering in mHealth, mAgriculture and mobile financial services in the region.
She graduated from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics, (Concentrations in Finance and Business & Public Policy) and a minor in French. She is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and is looking forward to exploring East Africa.
