A Bankers without Borders volunteer consultant conducted an in-depth analysis of the current financial products being offered by Microfund for Women (MFW) and assisted the MFI in conducting a 3-year growth projection based on the findings. Having a clear understanding of the portfolio and its impact on the financial returns will help MFW plan for the future, achieve its strategic objectives and increase its outreach while optimizing financial returns. Ultimately, the reduction in cost will be transferred to clients in the form of cheaper access to the services and addition resources will allow MFW to support their non-financial services.

A BwB volunteer traveled to Sudan to provide technical financial assistance to PASED including a customized financial model (based on a Grameen Foundation Template) and targeted education and training to staff onsite. This assistance better positioned PASED to capitalize on commercial capital funding for the microfinance sector. With increased funding, PASED will be able to increase its client base and better serve the needs of the poor in Sudan.

Grameen Foundation conducted an assessment of the Turkish microfinance industry on behalf of Grameen-Jameel, a joint venture between Grameen Foundation and Grow Well Limited, a subsidiary of the Abdul Latif Jameel Group (ALJ). Via remote research and onsite visits, using finance, research and analytical skills, two Bankers without Borders volunteers supported the growth and development of the Turkish microfinance sector.
